Willie "Puddin Head" Jones, Richie Ashburn, Curt Simmons, and Granny Hamner were all members of the 1950 Phillies NL pennant winning team. Known as the "Whiz Kids". They won the pennant with a 91-63 recrod. They lost to the Yankees 4 game to none in the World Series, including 3 1-run games. Their pitching staff took a hit when Simmons was called to active duty for the Korean War in September. All 5 are members of the Philadelphia Sports Hall of FameCategory
