After Dick Allen's last game as a Phillie (October 3, 1976) he gave his bat to Philadelphia Bulletin sports writer Ray Kelly. It remained in Kelly's possession until his death (November 22, 1988) at which time it was given to his nephew, James Crompton. In January of 2024 James Crpmpton donated the bat to The Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame
