A black and white photograph developed on postcard paper showing a member of the United States Cavalry mounted on a dark horse. The horse is standing with his front legs perched on a wooden box. The man is wearing a single-breasted service coat with a badge on his top left pocket. A sergeant's rank insignia patch is on his shoulder. The message on the verso reads "You can | guess who | this is. | Hello Home folks | How are you? | Am having a | swell time | Write to me. | Henry." in blue pencil. A second note at top right reads "When Henry was in Camp | at Chattanooga Ten" .
