An embossed souvenir postcard with the front showing an illustration observing Decoration Day at the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park. The recto is labeled "Decoration Day Souvenir" and features a red, white, and blue shield at center with four American Flags flanking it. "Chickamauga" is at the center.
Decoration day was established in 1868 by General John Logan to remember the sacrifice of those Union soldiers that perished during the Civil War. Over the years, this day was expanded to memorialize those who died in all wars and the name was officially changed to Memorial Day in 1971 when it became a national holiday.Subject Place
