A 35mm Kodachrome Transparency slide of the Broadway Feed Co. at 3147 S. Broad Street, now demolished. The photograph shows the one story, flat roof building with yellow painted stone façade. Black and white murals are painted in between the windows and doors, depicting livestock and dogs. The building has a white fascia which contains a painted sign that reads "Broadway Feed Co." in Navy that is flanked with neon signs advertising their goods (items like baby chick and field fencing) on either side. "Jim Dandy Feeds" is painted in red below the fascia, above the main entrance. The A & P grocery is the brick building at the left edge and Lookout Mountain rises in the background. The PanORam hotel can be seen on the side of Lookout. "Lookout Mt. from Howard Johnsons Apr 1955" is written in pencil on the rear.Photograph Details

The rail line running in the foreground of the slide is the track connecting the Southern Rwy. (SOU) Shipp's Yard, at the end of Shipp St., the Nashville, Chattanooga & St. Louis (NC&StL) Cravens Yard, between Chattanooga Creek and I-24 and the Tennessee, Alabama & Georgia (TAG) in Alton Park. It allowed for transfer of in/outbound material from US Pipe and Wheland Foundries, as well other industries. This crossing has been here since before 1885.Copyright
