Scope and Content

Series of photographs relating to Lovell Field in Chattanooga. Lovell Field was opened in 1930 as the second Chattanooga Airport. The first, Marr Field, was located off of Amnicola Highway but poor wind currents due to its locations made it a poor location. Lovell Field was opened in 1930 and named after its booster John E. Lovell. The field was paved through a CCC project in 1936. Research indicates that these photos were taken between February 15 - June 10, 1941
