A Few Facts About the Trip
Dayton, Tennessee, is the place where the famous Monkey Trial (Scopes trial) was held. This trial attracted the attention of the entire country, and brought such prominent men as William Jennings Bryan, Clarence Darrow and Dudley Field Malone to Dayton. A large university is now being erected at Day-ton in memory of Mr. Bryan. The Cumberland mountain range lies on the west of this route. At the foothills of this range you pass through the strawberry center of the south. During the month of May you will see great fields of berries being harvested for shipment to all parts of the country. Further south from Dayton you pass thru the pottery section, the material for which consists of the red clay secured from the red hills that are so much noticed in this section. The scenery throughout this section of Tennessee is most beautiful, and the historic surroundings in and around Chattanooga make this a trip that everyone will enjoy.Publication Details
