A black and white publicity photograph from the 75th Anniversary Celebration of the Battle of Chickamauga. The photograph, dated 8 September 1938, shows two young men carrying flags and one young woman dressed as a majorette. The teen boy on the far left is wearing a reproduction Union Army uniform and is holding a flag pole with an American flag on it. In the center is a young man in a Confederate Army reproduction uniform and carrying a pole with the Battle flag of the Army of Northern Virginia on it. The majorette is on the right, leading the two teenagers, beating a drum strapped across her shoulders. She is wearing calf height white boots, a white short with a white, tailed top and a tall white shako with dark feathers at the top. The photograph has been touched up with pencil to make the photograph sharper.

CHATTANOOGA, TENN.-- Flanked by Union and Confederate Standard Bearers, Helen Jones is shown beating the drum which is expected to call 500,000 people here from Sept. 16-25 to attend the 75th Anniversary of the Battle of Chickamauga. Miss Hones will be the theme girl of the mammoth open-air spectacle, "Drums of Dixie," and will serve as drum majoress for the Society of "40 and 8" of the American Legion during the anticipated visit of President Roosevelt on Sept. 20. A highlight of the celebration will be a re-enactment of the struggle in which the Confederacy scored an important victory.
