A black and white photograph of President Warren G. Harding standing with a large group of people in front of the Signal Mountain Inn on Signal Mountain, Tennessee during Harding's campaign for United States President 13 October 1920. Mr. Harding and his wife, Florence King Harding, are positioned at center with several prominent Chattanooga's. A Chattanooga Daily Times article that features this photograph mentions Z.C. Patten, Jr., P.J. Krusei, Mr. & Mrs. Jesse M. Littleton, C.H. Huston, C.E. James, Senator Newell Sanders, Henry Clay Evans, Joe Brown, John Fouche, Miss Louise VanDyke, Mrs. Morrow Chamberlain, Mrs. C.C. Nottingham, Miss Louise Whiton, among others. Harding was visiting the hotel for a luncheon honoring members of the President's party.
The entryway to the Signal Mountain Inn is decorated with two 40-star flags hanging from either side of the gable and a flag with horizontal stripes at center. "Stokes" is signed at the bottom right of the photograph and the carding that the photograph is mounted on is debossed at bottom center and reads "W.H. Stokes, Chattanooga, Tenn."Photograph Details
