"THE WONDERFUL VOICE
Of Mrs. Margarette Severance—A Remarkable Woman. Mrs. Margarette Severance of Tennessee gave a recital at the Elks' hall last night, in which she displayed remarkable skill in elocution and great power in character delineation. Mrs. Severance looks well, acts well, recites well. She is of most pleasing personality and has a voice of very remarkable volume, force, and sweet-ness: a voice which is powerful to convey every shifting mood in whatever she essays to render; a voice that is at once of the heart and the brain. Her recitations and delineations were many, and everyone was in the highest degree admirable. She gave her listeners new conceptions of the sweetness and power of a sweet woman's voice, and in many instances her recitations were positively thrilling. She is truly a woman of rare gifts of speech and intellect. Several musical selections were rendered by, local talent, among which was a beautiful violin solo by Oliver Chalifoux."
