Description

An early postcard with the front showing an illustration of the Elks Club Building. Printed at the top is an advertisement, "Compliments of W. F. Fischer and Bro. Co.," with their address at Market and 8th Streets, Chattanooga, Tennessee. Located at the northwest corner of Walnut and Seventh Streets, the Elks Building was constructed to house the local lodge of The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. Opening in 1907, it featured an indoor pool, billiard room, and bowling alley, as well as meeting and residential spaces. The structure was designed by the architectural firm of Bearden & Foreman and constructed by A. F. Hahn.
