Black and white photograph of the Tivoli theater at 709 Broad Street in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The photograph features the front façade of the historic theater in 1929 with the marquis advertising the movie "The Mysterious Dr. Fu Manchu". The Beaux-Arts theater was built by Chicago architecture firm Rapp and Rapp as well as local architect Richard Hunt and opened in 1921.
The front façade features a tall lit sign that rises vertically from the marquis with the name of the theater at center. The marquis features decorative lighting and an advertisement for the featured film that reads "If you never see or hear another picture don't miss "The Mysterious Dr. Fu Manchu" Sax Rohmers famous story now a Paramount all talking thrill hit with Warner Oland Jean Arthur" Below the marquis and on each side of the ticket booth and doors are illustrations and other advertisements for the film. The rails from the trolley line can be seen in the center of the street
