Black and white photograph developed on postcard paper showing "Uncle" Mark Thrash posing with the military frock coat given to him by General Ulysses S. Grant. The photograph shows Thrash, wearing a dark wool open coat with pins and medals on the lapel, wearing a white apron around his waist standing in front of a wood cabin at the Chickamauga National Battlefield. The coat he is holding is on a wire hanger and shows a pair of epaulettes with braided cord and eagles with wings spread. The photograph is labeled "'Uncle" MARK THRASH, age 116; born near | RIchmond, Virginia, Dec. 25 1820.
