Description

A black and white photograph mounted on a dark green, gold rimmed cabinet card showing Uncle Ben Wiley, the oldest citizen in Chattanooga, by Wm. Stokes in 1890. Uncle Ben is sitting in a wagon led by a small donkey, posed in front of Market Street storefronts. The business on the right has a hanging sign that reads "Boots and Shoes Made to Order, Repairing Neatly and [?] Done. J.M. Odonald." The shop at Wiley was married seven times and lived to at least 100 years old. This photograph was taken in front of 520 Market Street, a few doors south of the Chattanooga Opera House located on the NE corner of 5th and Market Streets.
