Description

The Waverly tablet, represented by this replica, was found in Pike County, Ohio. It was made between 2000 and 3000 years ago by the Woodland Indians, also called the Adena people, who created graphic, artifacts and stone, clay, shell, and bone. They lived in the Ohio Valley from Western Pennsylvania to the Mississippi River. This tablet is carved in shell or siltstone and measures 3 3/8“ x 2 5/8“ x 5/16“. The original is on exhibit at the Cincinnati Art Museum. The artist that created the replica is Carol Shelton, who lives in Columbus, Ohio.
