John Friedley, son of Jacob and Barbara Friedley, was born at Bloom furnace, Scioto county, Ohio, on August 5, 1859. He was educated in the public schools and was confirmed in the Lutheran church at the age of 16. He was married on February 21, 1897 to Miss Zumba Westfall of near Beaver, and lived near Gregg’s Hill for a number of years, where he worked on a farm. Later, moving to Beaver he passed away at his home, February 12, 1937, at the age of 77. He leaves the devoted wife; one sister and numerous other relatives and friends. He was a very quiet nature and kind disposition and always enjoyed doing something to lighten the cares and burdens of others. He had been feeling ill of health for the last four years and a while his illness was a very painful nature. He endured his suffering very patiently and was conscious to the very last and left the assurance that he was at peace with God. He lived his own life and nothing that we might say can add or take away. His funeral was held at the United Brethren Church in Beaver, Ohio, with the services conducted by Reverend Wilson.Collection
