Gallery Hosts Kapplinger exhibit
The Memorial Union Gallery is Hosting an exhibit by Kent Kapplinger, assistant professor of art, titled "Eclectic Vision: Collaborative Prints and Drawings" through Jan 26. The NDSU Students Art Society plans to host a reception for the show 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Jan 11.
"In Kapplinger's imagery, the land and its creatures serve as both source and metaphor for human existence, " Said Peg Furshong, Gallery coordinator. "His artwork defines a personal search for balance , order and regeneration through the medium of printmaking and drawing. The works reveal layered aspects of artist's personal life and society at large, each layer resonating time, place and memory through intertwining imagery and text."
Kapplinger, director of the Printmaking Education and Research Studio program at NDSU, received his bachelor's degree in art from Augustana Collage and his master's degree in printmaking from the University of Iowa. He teaches workshops in printmaking and has received fellowships from the Woodstock School of Art in New York and Vinalhaven Press in Maine.
