This was painted during an International Association of Astronomical Artists (IAAA) workshop held at Kitt Peak National Observatory during the observatory’s 50th anniversary. The white surface of the McMath-Pierce Solar Telescope takes on wonderful colors when seen at dusk, giving it the rich yellow glow seen here.
