Her gray hair is pulled up in two small chignons on either side of her head and she wears small, dangling green earrings, a double stranded pearl necklace, and bright red lipstick. She is seated in front of a dark abstract background. Joyce Zucker in 1996 noted the painting shows planar deformation. There are two bulges in Natalie's chest and a depressed area in the upper left quadrant. There are severe draws from the top corners, giving the appearance of sagging from the top edge.
