Description

An early 20th Century walnut and tapestry-upholstered Louis XIV style settee, having 17th Century tapestry upholstered seat, arms and back, the red silk damask exterior covering, possibly Italian, from 18th Century. The whole supported on four bulbous, turned and blocked front legs, blocked rear legs, with ring-turned "H"-stretchered base. The 17th Century tapestry, convering the back and arm supports, depicts warriors fighting before a castle and other town buildings. Its cushion is made of a 17th Century "verdure" tapestry.
