Description

Three-tiered chandelier with 24 electric candle lights, 8 lights per tier, with lampshades on each. Large center brass sphere, with a script inscription in Hebrew and Portuguese: "Do Kaal Kados Beraha Vessalom, Feita no Anno 5494". English translation reads, "From the Holy Congregation Blessing and Peace, made in the Year 5494 (1734)". Translation provided by Joseph I. Tarica, Executive Secretary of The Congregation Shearith Isreal in the City of New York, Spanish and Portuguese Synagogue founded in 1654. Originates from the Beraha Vessalom congregation. *Purchased in Antwerp c. 1918 by Charles of London
