Description

Iron handcuffs that could be opened by inserting a key into the holes on the ends of each cuff. Philadelphia inventor Andrew Rankin received a patent for his design of these "improved manacles" on February 20, 1866.

Use

Used by Robert Jones, the first sheriff to live in the residence connected to the Porter County Jail.
