Description

Sepia-toned photograph of downtown Valparaiso, as photographed from an airplane flying northeastward. Photograph was taken before the Courthouse fire, as the courthouse still has its belltower. Pilot was Captain F.W. Sommer, with the photograph taken by Master Sergeant H.E. Armstead. Both men were members of the 309th Observation Squadron of the United States Air Corps, based out of Schoen Field at Fort Benjamin Harrison.
