Smooth black velvet hat with black net; rhinestone trim. Made by Marlea Hats, New York and Baltimore. Elastic string to go under chin. Given by Pamela Page, great niece of Helen Haven Langdon, owner of the hat.

Notes: oil paint on canvas Mrs. Albert Remick (Caroline A Beck), the donor, born 1833, daughter of Albert M Beck. Loaned several things in 1920 when house opened--these became gifts. Portrait may have come at that time. The Remicks lived in NYC--he was jeweler and salesman, according to passport applications. 1920 census Carrie A Remick a widow living in NYC. 1900 census indicates she had borne 2 children but none were then living.
