Memorial sampler. Unique composition features usual lines of alphabets and numerals, but incorporates a memorial verse dedicated to Reverend Joseph Buckminster, flanked by weeping willows. Signed "Mary Greenleaf Clark, aged 8, 1815." Inscribed "In Memory of Rev, Joseph/ Buckminster, D.D./ Pastor of a Church in Portsmouth/ NH who died suddenly/ in this vicinity while on a/ journey for health June 10,/ 1812 ae 61." Followed by verse: "O ever honoured ever dear adieu/ How many tender names are lost in you/ Keep safe O tomb thy precious sacred trust/ Till life divine awake his Sleeping dust."
