One of six small ceramic plates with polychrome images of colonial revival Revolutionary themes, with brown rim and edging of blue stars, with text. One references JPJ and Betsy Ross; has text: “June 14, 1777. The ‘Stars and Stripes’ is officially adopted / as the flag of the new nation. Originally a naval flag, it / is so used by Commander John Paul Jones. / The design is later attributed to a seam- / stress, one Betsy Ross.” Each marked on back “Made in Japan” and “[copyright] 0.0.1. 1975.” Diam. 6 1/8 in. NB: low quality ceramics, most fitted with added hanger. Additional text: “WARNING / FOR DECORATIVE PURPOSES ONLY. NOT TO BE USED FOR SERVING FOODS.”Collection
