Description

Rosewood - brown color- has slight scratches all over; a label used to be affixed on the base - what remains of it has illegible words. Presented to James Dow, pitcher for the Rockingham Nine in 1866. Commemorative bat, presented to James Dow, the pitcher for the Rockingham Nine, in 1866. The inscription on the bat reads: 'Presented to the member of the Rockingham Nine making the best score in the second match between the Kearsarge Club of Concord and the Rockingham Club of Portsmouth, September 11th, 1866." The Kearsarge Club won, 32-19."
