Sampler made by Sarah "Sally" Whidden (b. ca. 1810). Linen ground and likely linen thread. Colors are very faded and some rows have many missing stitches. Stitching techniques include cross stitch, eyelet embroidery, and satin or basketweave stitch. Motifs are small trees, geometric patterns and designs, and large fruit basket.
