Eulabee Dix was an important painter of miniatures in the early 20th century, when the fashion for such small images was revived. She was commissioned in 1936 to copy John Singleton Copley's 1767 portraits of Woodbury and Sarah Sherburne Langdon, who once owned this house. The Copley paintings are now in the collection of the Dallas Museum of Art.

Frame and stand are brass with leaf decoration and a cherub's head with wings at the frame base, attaching it to the stand. The rear of the portrait is a hinged glass door, underneath which is gold fabric and a calling card from the donor, Mrs. William Gorham Rice, with the attribution to the artist, Eulabee Dix.Collection
