Description

A section of the old Portsmouth Aqueduct system. A section of the main pipe is attached to a smaller wooden pipe by a lead pipe. The original pipes were made out of cedar logs approximately 10 to 14 feet in length, hollowed out with a giant auger, grooved together. The system was installed in 1797 and remained in use for nearly a century. See also 616.
