Description

Punch Bowl, China for export, ca. 1770s This bowl matches shards excavated at the estate of Gov. John Wentworth, colonial New Hampshire's last royal governor. Round circular foot ring and sloping sides; sides decorated in panels w curved edges alternating between a blue ground w gold highlights and sections w floral design in red and blue against a white background; thin band of decoration encircles rim on the outside; small band of decoration inside the bowl at the rim, with a central floral passage in the center at bottom.
