Small, framed, colored miniature of Thomas P. Drown painted on ivory ca. 1805. Beveled glass backing with delicately woven hair inside. Possibly rose gold frame. Jelly label on the back reads; "Thomas Pickering Drown / Portsmouth N.H. / Born Apr. 19 - 1782 / Died June 3 - 1849"

Note

Prior to the American Revolution, the Drown family spelt their last name Drowne. Most likely to distance themselves from the English, the "e" was dropped following independence.
