Description

Small child's chair, with solid vase-shaped splat and arched crest rail; trapezoidal seat originally caned and now fitted with a late nineteenth-century brown floral (tapestry) upholstery outlined in brown gimp; four turned legs ending in button feet; four stretchers, with front stretcher mounted higher on the legs and with a turned element at center. With gold painted decoration against a dark ground, featuring a lyre at the center of the crest rail and a vase on the splat, In old label on underside of seat rail: "Dow / 14" and "UM5" in red.
