Early history unknown, possibly owned by a member of the Sherburne family in England; by tradition, given by Frances Deering Wentworth to her cousin, Sarah Sherburne Langdon; descended to her daughters and grand-daughters; in 1893, purchased from the family by Harriet Parker Pruyn, Albany, N.Y., a great-grandaughter of Sarah Sherburne Langdon; given by her daughters, Mrs. Charles Hamill and Mrs. William Gorham Rice.
