Brief research suggests original owner may have been Hannah (Lang) Chadbourne (1737-1813), the wife of Thomas Chadbourne (1730-1810) and mother of Hannah (1763-1847) (who might have been named Martha) who in any event married Philip Page (1758/59-1825).Acquisition

Old note accompanying object in pencil on paper reads: "Houusewife which belonged to Mrs. Chadbourne of Portsmouth, N.H. Mother of Mrs. Philip Page. So about 200 years old.: With added accession number "1982.97.454." Acquired by the Pejepscot Historical Society, Brunswick, Maine, as bequeat from Lawrence Pennell (1897-1982) in January 1983, Deaccessioned as being "out of scope" by the Pejepscot Historical Society and given in September 2019.
