Description

A jester, with a matching orange parasol, strides past the Lobster Pot. A little white poodle dressed in a red costume, follows at their feet. Elisabeth Pearl’s "Lobster Pot," offers viewers a glimpse into a brief moment during carnival, the week long LGBTQ+ celebration. The continuous love and pride ebbing through Provincetown goes on display, by taking the form of parades swirling down Commercial Street and costume parties coming to life. When a community is so welcoming and supportive, the purpose of a mask changes entirely. It becomes a prop to celebrate. Carnival in Provincetown exhibits just that, a community celebration of authenticity.
