Robert B. Rogers was a painter, writer, engraver, lithographer, and illustrator that worked in Provincetown. The use of linocut printing to depict the unique structure of the sand dunes is compelling—Especially in the straight horizontal lines converging with the tall, curved sand dune, almost resembling a colossal wave, rising, waiting to crash onto the surface. These large mounds form when wind deposits sand on top of each other, though when the mounds accumulate size, they can collapse under their own weight.Acquisition
