Journey X Katarzyna Winczek Etching Katazyna Winczek is a Polish printmaker living and working in Czestochowa, Poland. Journey X is typical of Winczek’s oeuvre, showing an aerial landscape populated with ghostly buildings, walls, foundations, roads, and pathways, crisscrossed with fractals and grids. Winzeck believes that the landscape, whether the physical landscape or the landscape preserved in memory, serves as a metaphor for human life, mapping the points in which choices or important memories were made. Winczek advocates for the use of ecological graphic arts techniques and materials, which she utilizes in her own work and teaches to future printmakers as a professor at the Institute of Arts of the Jan Dlugosz University where she is the Head of the Non-toxic Intaglio Printmaking Studio.
