"For forty years, Dragune has produced illustrated books, lithographs and watercolors at her home in Riga, Latvia. Her graphic compositions are mainly landscapes that have a romantic theme with a strong sense of human presence. But the work here contains a macabre sense of the surreal and the sense that the sleeping individual is safer in her dreams than with the impending danger of those characters lurking beside her. However, as they themselves are bound together, and masked as she herself was, perhaps they too are victims of an unknown menace and are simply waiting for her to awaken..."
