Bently - Kent House 1831 (in Kent, OH)

Name/Title

Bently - Kent House 1831 (in Kent, OH)

Entry/Object ID

1991.17.13

Description

This woodcut black and white piece shows a house surrounded by trees and a grassy field/ground. The differentiating lines in the house vs the organic shapes in the trees add a distinct contrast in the two subjects. The house is geometric and clean while the grass and trees have this heavy texture and shadow to them. The woodcut uses positive and negative space to its advantage due to the only two colors being black and what's not inked.
