Akiko Taniguchi is a practicing print-artist from Tokyo, Japan. She is now residing in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Since completing her MFA at Musashino Art University in 1993, Akiko has had eighteen solo-exhibitions throughout Japan, Canada, Russia and the United States. Recent solo and two-person exhibitions included, Yanagisawa Gallery, Saitama, Japan, and Davidson Gallery, Seattle, WA, U.S.A. Akiko has also been in numerous international printmaking exhibitions including most recently: The 12th. International Biennial Print and Drawing Exhibition, Taichung, R.O.C., The 6th. Kochi International Triennial Exhibition of Prints, Kochi, Japan and 4th Novosibirsk International Biennial of Contemporary Graphic Art, Novosibirsk, Russia. Awards received by Akiko for her artistic activities include: CWAJ Art Grant Award, Tokyo, Japan, Merit Award at Janet Turner National Print Competition, Chico, CA, U.S.A. and Third Place at National Juried Print Exhibition, Newark, NJ, U.S.A. Numerous public collections have acquired Akiko’s work including: University of Alberta, Edmonton, AB, Canada, Alberta Foundation for the Arts, Edmonton, AB, Canada, State Museum of Oriental Art, Moscow Russia; Silpakorn University, Bangkok, Thailand; and The Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Ls Angeles, U.S.A.
