Description

Walrus ivory, oval-shaped with Native kayaker which is carved in it using scrimshaw technique; large gold ingot is inset behind and above kayaker; setting is steel pin with closing clasp, stamped on shaft of clasp is a patent number “2066969”?; small off-white box with lid and cotton padding, on top is printed in marker “Ivory pin Gold nugget, 1957,” in bottom is card “ANAC, ESKIMO, Made in Alaska, Certified by the Alaska Native Arts & Crafts Clearing House” include image of Native kayaker; second small card describing history of skrimshaw.
