The monkey god Lord Hanuman is seated on the far left. Lord Rama is seated in the center next to his brother on the right. Here Lord Rama asks Hanuman to use his initiative and assertive excellence the help retrieve his wife, who has been taken by Ravana, the Demon King. This story is from the epic poem the Ramayana, which narrates the struggle of the divine prince Rama to rescue his wife Sita from Ravana.
