"Georges Braque was born in 1882, in Argenteuil-sur-Seine, France. By 1906, his work was no longer Impressionist but Fauve in style. From 1909, Pablo Picasso and Braque worked together in developing Cubism. In 1912, they started to incorporate collage elements into their paintings with the papier collé technique. Their collaboration lasted until 1914, when Braque served in the French Army in World War I. After the war, Braque’s work became freer and less schematic. By the end of the decade, he returned to a more realistic interpretation, although certain aspects of cubism remained. "
