For the biography of St. Paul, see 2005.02.004. In this icon, St. Paul holds the Gospels and stands in a three-quarter view looking toward the viewer’s left. His tall form and neatly drawn drapery reflect the Byzantine style. This panel belongs to a set that includes 2005.02.055, with the result that Sts. Paul and Thomas faced each other as they stood in similar poses.
