Description

The image depicts the French painter and theatre designer Jean-Fris Séchan. Séchan was born in Paris in 1803, and died in 1874. At the bottom of the card, there is the words "Ne a Paris, le Juin 1803, mort a Paris, le 14 septembre 1874" -- which is translated to his birth and death dates. The photograph is from the Galerie Goupil & Cie which is denoted at the right hand side and directly underneath the image. Sechan is posed within in a decorated room, leaning on his cane. Dressed in elegant clothing he looks out at the right hand side of the photography. (Note: The top in the image here reads "Galerie Contemporaire" -- it is bent over in the sleeve.)
