Flat painted wood panel backed with rust colored velvet covered by silver riza with enamel halo. The riza is plain in its exterior save for Christ's cloak, which is iridescent in color and engraved with floral motifs. The portion of the cloak under the blue open gospel book has a Cyrillic maker's mark. Christ holds the book in one painted hand while the other is held in the three finger blessing symbol. His face is also painted and shows a serious face with shoulder length brown hair and beard. The enamel halo has geometric and swirl motifs in light blue, royal blue, red, white, green, and purple. Three symbols of Christ are in royal blue in the halo.Type of Painting

This icon depicts Christ Pantocrator holding the open New Testament with his left hand and making a sign of blessing with his right hand. The icon is covered with a silver riza except for the face and hands of Christ. His halo is completely enameled and bears the Greek letters omicron, omega, and nu spelling HO ON, translated as “Who Am” in English. This is the name for God used in Exodus 3:14.
