"Mark Anderson taught at Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi, Texas. and he may now be retired from teaching. The print is a gift from the artist, arranged by Professor Kathryn Reeves of Purdue University. The print is horizontally designed, with more emphasis on the left side. Visible in this print is a long mountain ridge with a jagged top that slopes down on the right. The composition is balanced, becoming lighter in hue on the right. Anderson has utilized a plethora of colors, including shades of green for the grass in the foreground, oranges and yellows for the mountain range, and blues for the background skyline. Overall, there is a delicate balance between realism and fantasy. Mountains from which the scene is taken in Monument Valley, Utah, do have an orange appearance in the brihght sun. Mark Anderson has enhanced and heightened the chromatic scale, creating an almost electric effect. The technique used by the artist is foam relief printmaking. This particular print varies with customary foam relief prints, in having a great amount of detail, not usually found in such prints. The exaggerated impression of color, with orange and yellow balanced between green and blue, is truly stunning. Bibliography: Darack 2006: 16-17."
