Untitled (Seated Woman)Entry/Object ID
1993.11.02Description
A woman is seated in the center of the image, holding something in her hand (presumably a book). She is wearing a long dress with cap sleeves which are ruched, and she is wrapped with some kind of frill/lace. She looks out to the left corner of the room, with just half of her face being visible to the viewer. Her body is turned to face the left side of the room, and her feet are crossed at the base of the chair.
The room which she inhabits is quite simply with beige walls, some kind of green box in the right-hand side which looks to be covered with some kind of drapery. The rug which the chair is positioned a top of is a patterned rug. On the floor books and an unidentifiable object lay by her feet. An almost ladder like figure stands in the left-hand side of the image, this figure is unidentifiable, but could be a shadow.Type of Painting
