"FURNITURE GRILLS
Arkla Industries, 1980-1985
As lifestyles changed from backyard barbecuing to the more condensed and formal patio and condo terrace, we re-directed our design thinking to more furniture-like concepts. As the "grill" would be in closer proximity to more refined chairs and tables on small patios and balconies it seems to us that the appearance of the appliance should reflect it's surroundings.
In spit of numerous design efforts toward this valid theory, the marketing people would not recognize the changing conditions and continues to opt for larger "backyard" grills, as though the customers still had unlimited space."Collection
